This series continues to move away from an overtly Irish context. Rather than locations invested with direct political significance, these works search out the existence of a generic malevolence within the landscape. Made in uninhabited spaces that lie on the edges of various unspecified cities throughout Europe - although much of the series was made on the outskirts of Paris as part of a commission from the Ville de Paris in 1997. We are taken from bright bleached vacant lots, to corners of almost complete darkness were the urban merges with the rural
