the map
The Map was commissioned by South Dublin County Council as part of their In Context public art commissions. All of the works are made in Tallaght on the outskirts of Dublin, Ireland. The final works where published as a 28pp brochure and distributed to 20,000 houses in Tallaght. In these images Seawright moves between the cold and brutal landscape of daylight and the seductive warmth of the night. A paradox is created between light and dark - we lurch between two worlds and two states of consciousness. At the edge of this massive housing project Seawright maps that uneasy space where nature and culture collide.
